We want our players to have the best experience possible, so one of the ways that we are accomplishing that goal is to provide our coaches with as many tools as possible so that you feel comfortable in your role as a coach.
NTSSA Coaching Education Program
North Texas State Soccer Association holds coaching education courses multiple times per year for various levels of coaching. All coaches are recommended to hold a US Soccer National “F” License.
The following are the main courses available through NTSSA, to register for a course or for more information, please click here.
U.S. Soccer National “F” License
The National F License course is a two-hour course, conducted entirely online, intended for all parents and coaches of youth players. The focus of this grassroots course is to share U.S. Soccer’s best practices in creating a fun, activity-centered and age-appropriate environment for 5-8 year old players.
U.S. Soccer National “E” License
The National E License course is an 18-hour course which covers the elementary principles of coaching and prepares interested coaches for the National D License course. Must hold a National “F” License first.
U.S. Soccer National “D” License
The National D License course is a 36 to 40-hour course designed for the experienced coach who has already earned a National E License. The focus of this course is to improve a coach’s ability to positively influence individual players and teams. Must hold a National “E” License.
U.S. Soccer National “C” License
The National “C” License course is designed to introduce concepts that are targeted toward coaching players ages 15-18. The course focus is on getting coaches to think about, discuss, and recognize the recurring concepts or themes that exist in soccer. Candidates will be challenged to find ways to offer constructive guidance to players while also allowing players to experience the game for themselves. Must hold a National “D” License.
WSA Coaching Information
All new head coaches are required to attend the Coaching 101 clinic despite their coaching experience or NTSSA License level. This course is designed to help you navigate the specific rules and policies of WSA. This clinic takes place at the same time as the Coaches Meeting, check our calendar for dates.
Other than the coaching clinic, we have compiled a few things to help you navigate coaching youth soccer.
The best way to hold a practice is with a practice plan. There are a few examples in the back of the Coaching Manual, or you can create your own using this worksheet: WSA Coaching Manuals
We have compiled some videos to help show you various soccer training related techniques so that you can be sure to teach your team the correct way to play.
